About this exhibition

The International Kolkata Book Fair is an annual literary event organised by the Publishers & Booksellers Guild, which held the first fair in 1976. The official site describes it as the world's largest attended book fair, recognised by the International Publishers Association, Geneva, with publishers from India and abroad taking part each winter. The 2027 edition is the 50th, announced for 22 January to 3 February 2027, with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram as its central theme.

Why exhibit

• Unprecedented Footfall: As one of the largest and most attended public book fairs globally, it draws millions of passionate readers, academicians, and literary enthusiasts. • 50th Landmark Milestone: The golden jubilee edition guarantees massive media coverage, high-profile dignitaries, and heightened global interest. • Thematic Relevance: The central theme commemorates the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, alongside spotlights on the Bengal Renaissance and Partition history, attracting targeted historical and cultural literature buyers. • New Transparent Digital Systems: The adoption of a technology-driven, automated stall allocation system ensures a smoother, more standardized booking and transparent space distribution process. • International Networking: Connect directly with global publishers, regional distributors, and international delegations (with Israel under consideration as the theme country)

Why visit

• 50th Milestone Celebration: Experience a landmark edition featuring grand commemorative events, automated computerised stall layouts, and a broader, more inclusive representation of global and domestic publishers. • Central Theme: Explore special exhibits and discussions dedicated to the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram'. • Special Cultural Sub-Themes: Engage with panels and displays highlighting Bengal's rich literary history, including the Partition Horrors, the centenary of actor Uttam Kumar, the bicentenary of Rajnarayan Basu, and the centenary of Tagore’s Raktakarabi. • International Pavilion: Discover global literature and culture, with Israel proposed as the special theme country alongside widespread international publisher participation.
